To
THE HON'BLE CHIEF JUSTICE
THE HIGH COURT OF DELHI
SHER SHAH ROAD,  NEW DELHI

Subject: Public Interest Litigation (P.I.L.) against Ministry of HRD, New Delhi and the Joint Admission Board, IIT, Madras against grave mistakes in the question paper of the  IIT Joint Entrance held on 11th April, 2010 and request for re-holding the examination.

Respected Sir,

The people are highly affected and hurt by the grave errors in the Indian Institute of Technology Joint Entrance Examination held last 11th April, 2010. In spite of not just one, but a series of blunders in such a highly prestigious examination, the concerned authorities are not willing to hold re-examination.

Through various media reports, it has come to notice that a W.P.(C) / PIL no. 2784/2010 by one journalist Chetan Upadhyaya against IIT JEE-2010 has been accepted by your court for hearing on the next 19th May, 2010. May I request you, your honour, to treat this letter as PIL in the same case against the anomalies in the IIT JEE-2010.

Sir, due to the grave mistakes committed by the Joint Admission Board (IIT), the future of thousands of students is in danger and there is no logical way to address this problem except re-examination.

Sir, Through this registered post, I want to I bring to your notice that the IIT Joint Admission Board, in order to save itself from the court orders, may pre-pone the results and instead of 26th May 2010,  may declare it before the next court hearing on 19th May, 2010. So, in the interest of the society and the nation, it is therefore prayed to you to issue immediate stay orders on the publication of results till the pendency of the petition.

Kindly treat this letter by registered post as PIL in the above said matter and since the corrective measures suggested by the IIT are totally illogical and discriminatory in nature, you are kindly requested to go into the depth of the matter and issue immediate orders for stay on the publication of results & order the Ministry of HRD and IIT Joint Admission Board for the re-examination.

Thanks & regards,

  1. We are extremely annoyed ,depressed and disppointed after two full years of untiring efforts to appear for the JEE 2010 with `foolish mistakes' conducted by JAB. What kind of joke is this on the honest efforts of students.

  2. ya it is really blunder for the iits to give negative markds for the multiple correct answer questions

  3. YES RETEST IS THE ONLY TRUE SOLUTION.

  4. Sure, the errors reflect the negligence on part of JEE organiser. However, solutions proposed by JEE committee are reasonably fair in a given situation. Also, the notion that one can get 93 marks by darkening all bubbles is a false compaign. A retest is also not fair to students who have done well in first test. So, if one is looking for a fair solution, then retest is surely not the one.

  5. some students have left many questions in the physics and mathematics subjects(due to fear of negative marks) due to the error in printing headings, so this can only be remedised by RETEST

  6. Well reconducting is surely not an option. In my view the following two steps should definitely be taken

    1. A 3 day portal should be opened whereby every candidate who had appeared for the IITJEE can select the choice in which they want their answer sheet to be checked. The default way of checking should be according to the serial numbers.
If a candidate wants his/her answer sheet to be checked according to the letter heads, he should visit the portal and specify so. Clearly, the process will not be cumbersome and will be just and fair.

    2. The proper clarification regarding partial marks in the multiple answers questions should be that if and only if the candidate has marked say 2 out of 3 the three correct options and NONE of the incorrect options then he should be awarded partial marks.

For example if the correct answer is ABD then a candidate who has marked either A, B, D, AB, AD, BD should be given partial marks and not one who has marked C, AC, BC, CD, ABCD, ACD, ABC. Clearly the process is impartial and justified. I think this is what they meant but it is clearly not possible to print it in this way in the question paper.

A normal person with normal IQ should be able to understand what partial marks imply. Otherwise you're surely dumb to be at an IIT.

Cheers. A sincere request to all of you to think logically and not vote for a re-examination just because the exam went bad from your end or you want a slick second chance.

    Regards,
    Karan

  7. Yes, as Karan said just because these pupils like nilesh, etc have scored low marks in iit 2010 IIT cant conduct reexam..

A student aspiring for IIT must have normal IQ with which he should be able to overcome the errors in it..

My sincere advice is .. if u have got low marks in IIT sit and study for next year IIT or go for any other alternatives

JUST BECAUSE U HAVE NOT PERFORMED WELL IN IIT U CANT CLAIM IIT TO CONDUCT REEXAM..

This simple logic IIT people also know.. thats why they told that no reexam will be conducted..

  9. what the hell is this ................i cant understand what the hell they are doing with our future ......cant understand marking in 1 or more than 1 multiple choice question ....and they have discriminate many students some fools can get profit from it .....i dony want to do a retest but also fearing low rank due to these errors...but they donot have any proper solution to overcome these errors only retest can be solution..........but some average students have problem in it cause they have surely stopped studying .....and dont have confidence they will pass it this time ........only highly meritious student <1000 rank may have no problem in retest but 1000-6000 must have problem wid it

  10. @swapnil ilu
dude...do you think those who are <1000 must be studying after jee....they must not have even given other exams properly......if re exam occurs what about other exams then...there will be a lot of mess

  11. I agree with karan. as when u cannot perform well in IIT & looking reason for re conducting IIT Exam. What is security that after a break in study U can perform well. Therefore re exam is not the solution, This problem must be solve by another way. I also feel that for Re Conducting the exam how much delay taken for start college course and all session will be delay further & u will clear your B Tech in 5-6 year insted of four year which will make trouble for future employment.

  12. all stupid students who got less marks and can not understand the real mistake made by them self
    are arguing for re exams.
iit is prestigious exam can not be taken again

  13. Students writing this prestigious exam should clearly know that IIT Madras wont give away 45 marks for free.Altho the directions were wrong but it seemed absurd on the student's part to foolishly mark all the 4 options.
